Using the wellness check-in and session RPE in Enode Pro

Enode Pro can ask athletes two short questionnaires around each training session: a wellness check-in before training and a session RPE question after it. Together they give coaches a picture of athlete readiness and training load alongside the velocity and volume data Enode already records.

Both questionnaires are off by default and always optional for athletes, even when enabled.

Turning the questionnaires on

Only the account owner can enable them:

  1. Open Settings in Enode Pro.
  2. Turn on the wellness check-in and/or the session RPE question. They are separate toggles; you can enable either one on its own.

Once enabled, athletes are notified to fill in the forms at the relevant times. No athlete is ever required to answer: the forms can be closed at any point and training continues as normal.

The wellness check-in

The check-in is five questions, each answered on a 1 to 5 scale, where 5 is always the positive end:

Question Measures
How fresh do your legs and body feel today? Fatigue
How well did you sleep last night? Sleep
How do your muscles feel today? Soreness
How relaxed or stressed do you feel? Stress
How would you describe your mood? Mood

Each answer shows a description alongside its number (for example "Very fresh" or "Sluggish"). Selecting an answer moves straight to the next question; the whole check-in takes around twenty seconds.

When it appears

  • When an athlete starts a workout (it can be skipped by closing the form).
  • From the dashboard, at any time.
  • From a morning reminder notification.

The session RPE question

Shortly after a session ends, the athlete receives a notification asking one question: how hard was the whole session, from 0 (rest) to 10 (maximal)?

A high score is not a bad score; it simply records that the session was hard. Enode Pro multiplies the rating by the volume of the session it already recorded to calculate training load, which feeds the weekly load, monotony, and strain figures.

The method is based on: McGuigan, M.R. & Foster, C. (2004). A New Approach to Monitoring Resistance Training. Strength & Conditioning Journal, 26(6), 42–47.

Answering on behalf of athletes

Coaches can complete both questionnaires for athletes who cannot answer themselves, for example athletes without a login.

Before a group workout: each athlete appears as a chip, with a badge if their check-in is still open. Tap the chip to answer their five questions. The screen shows which athlete the answers are for at every step.

After the session: a list appears containing only the athletes who trained and cannot be asked directly (athletes with their own login receive their own notification instead). Rate each athlete's session in turn; the list removes each athlete as they are done and closes when empty.

All answers are stored against the athlete they describe, whether entered by the athlete or by a coach.

FAQ

Are the questionnaires mandatory for athletes? No. Even when enabled, athletes can close either form without answering and train as normal.

Can I enable just one of the two? Yes. The wellness check-in and session RPE are separate toggles in Settings.

Which app is this in? Enode Pro only. Responses are stored against athlete profiles, so a Pro+ subscription is required.

Does this diagnose overtraining or predict injury? No. These are training-monitoring inputs that describe readiness and load. They are not a medical assessment or a predictive tool.

Can I export the data? Wellness and RPE responses are stored with the athlete's other training data. [Confirm with engineering: exact export/Portal availability at launch.]
