Roles, plans and permissions

Category: Getting started

Enode Pro shows each person exactly what their role and plan allow, and hides the rest. That is deliberate. A coach who cannot manage users is not shown a Users page full of dead buttons. It does mean "my colleague has a page I do not have" is the most common question in the system, so this article covers both how roles work and how to work out why something is missing.

The four roles

Every person in your organisation has one role. It shapes what they see in The Portal and in the app.

Role What it does
Owner The account holder. All access, manages the plan and licence. Does not appear in the Users table.
Facility Oversees coaches, and manages both coaches and athletes. Sometimes shown as administrator in the app.
Coach Manages athletes and runs their training.
Athlete Trains and records. Always trainable, so they carry body metrics and training data.

A role is fixed at creation. Choose carefully, because changing someone's role later means recreating them.

What the athlete role looks like

When someone with the athlete role signs in to Enode Pro on their own device:

  • They are automatically selected as the only participant in their sessions.
  • They do not see athlete-management options, so no adding, editing or switching athletes.
  • They train on a single station.

This keeps the athlete experience simple: open the app, see your workout, connect a sensor, train. It is also how remote training works. Any session their coach schedules appears on their phone, so they can train at home, at another facility or on the road, and the results arrive back in the coach's Portal like any other session.

Athletes who only ever train on the gym device do not need a login at all. See Adding and managing athletes for that choice.

Where roles matter most

Only athletes record training and appear in performance analysis. Facility and coach users carry assignments instead: which coaches they oversee, or which athletes they manage.

Why can't I see a feature?

Work through these three in order.

1. Is it your role? Roles gate management surfaces. Users need user-management access. The Planner is read-only without planner access. If a colleague with a more senior role sees the page and you do not, the role is the reason, and your account owner can tell you what your role includes.

2. Is it the station limit? Recording capacity is its own limit, separate from roles and features. Your plan includes a number of training stations, and the Devices page shows usage against it. See Devices and stations.

Still unexplained?

If a feature your role and plan should include is genuinely missing, sign out and back in first. If it is still missing, contact support from Settings → Help & Support with a diagnostics report.

Owners can review the plan under Settings → Account.
