If you are completely new to the Enode system, please check the following page of our website for first use of the sensors:
Setup your account as a single-user or an organisation.
If you are completely new to Enode or you are moving from Enode Pro and want to get started with the Enode app, download the app from the relevant app store first. The latest version of the app has an orange background.

After selecting to sign up as an individual, the next stages allow you to connect the app to Apple Health and select which equipment you have available and any limitations you have with certain movements. All of these settings can be adjusted later if needed. The equipment and limitations will be more important if you have a subscription to Enode One+ and would like the app to create a workout plan for you.

Enter a name for your organisation and then use one of the signup options. You can sign up with an email address or with Google/Apple social sign-in options. The email address that you use should ideally be an address that can be accessed by multiple people.
Once you have created your account, you can head to portal.enode.ai to start planning your workouts. If you have come from the Enode Pro app, you can migrate your data - check out the migrate your data article for more information.

Move your data from the Enode Pro app to the new Enode app.
Before migrating your data from Enode Pro, you will first need to download the new Enode app from the relevant app store and sign up (you have the option to sign up as an individual user or an organisation at this point). You can use the same email address as your current Enode Pro account or you can use a new email address if you prefer. If you are an organisation, it is recommended to use an email address that is accessible to more than one person.
Once you have created your account, including entering the One Time Password sent to your email address, head to portal.enode.ai. Log in to the portal using the email address for your new Enode account, or use the social login options. If you haven’t created an account yet, download the Enode app and create your account first.
If you have manually created exercises in the Enode Pro app, you should check the exercise list in the portal to see if your exercise exists. If not, create your exercises first before continuing to the migration process. You can see how to do this here.
Then enter the email address from your Enode Pro account. You will be mailed a one time passcode to your Enode Pro email address for security purposes that you will need to enter into the portal.

Step 2 is to configure your migration. You can select to import your saved workouts and when you want the data migrated from. By default, the migration process will move all data from the creation of your Enode Pro account, but you can override this and select a date instead.

Step 3 is to select the user name, you may have more options here if you are an organisation.

The penultimate step is to select which created exercises you want to transfer and choose where the data should be stored. This is the reason to check that your manually created exercises exist in the new exercise library first.

By default, all exercises are selected and given an exercise where the data would be stored. You can deselect exercises if you don’t want to transfer the data. If you would like to change the location where the data will be stored, tap on the pre-chosen exercise, and you will be allowed to change it.

Step 5 is the last and requires a one-time password that will be sent to your new account email. That’s it. This process can be completed more than once, but only from the point of your last migration.
If you need any help with this process, reach out to us at [email protected]

Start creating your own workouts in Enode
Whether you have a single-user or organisation account, you can create workouts in the application and the web portal. Creating workouts in the app will be shown for each account type below; the organisation login only has a few different steps in the beginning, but then follows the same procedure as the single-user login. If you have an athlete login as part of an organisation, the view in the app will be similar to a single-user account.
For the specific article on creating workouts in the portal, tap the link at the bottom of this article.
In the app, tap Profile > Workout templates and tap the + symbol. If it's your first time creating a workout, tap where it says "Templates". Workouts created here will be saved as workout templates. If you want to create a workout on the fly, go to the training tab and create a workout from there.
Add your workout details and tap 'select first exercise'. Use the search function or the icons to narrow down your search for your chosen exercises. Tap each exercise you want to put into your workout and then tap 'Add' in the top right.

A single tap on each exercise opens the programming detail information. Tap the header of each column to change your programming preferences. Tapping the check box icon lets you add a rest timer, and the + button adds an extra block of sets to that exercise.

Swiping left will also allow you to delete an exercise, swiping right will allow you to combine the exercise to create a superset, and tapping and holding will allow you to drag an exercise to change the order. Tap Edit to add more exercises. You can also long press on each exercise to delete or swap for another exercise.
Hit save, and the workout will be added to your workout templates. You can always decide to add the programming part of the workout when you want to train.

Creating workouts on the app as an organisation will create a workout to use then and there, rather than creating a template. If you want to create workout templates, do this from the web portal. You will, however, have the chance to save the newly created workout as a template after a session is finished.
The only difference from above is the starting point. When logged in as a coach or account owner, tap the + button and then 'New training'. Tap 'Select or create workout' > 'Create new workout' > 'Select first exercise'. Note that this feature will be greyed out if you are using the free version of the app.

At this point, the process continues in the same way from adding exercises onwards, in the single-user example above.

Workout scheduling is part of the Enode One/One+ and Enode Pro+ subscriptions. You cannot schedule workouts when using a free organisation account.
In-app scheduling is only available for single users and athlete logins linked to an organisation. Admins and coaches of organisations should use the web portal (portal.enode.ai) to schedule workouts. Single users can also use the portal to schedule workouts.
To schedule a workout, head to the calendar and tap on a day you want to schedule the workout. Tap the + button in the top right and select a workout from your workout templates or create one on the fly. You can also give the workout a name if you create a new workout or if you use a template. Hit save, and the workout will be scheduled for that day. Alternatively, you can tap the 'scheduled for' box to change the scheduling.

As the account owner or a coach in an organisation account, use the web portal for scheduling workouts.
Once in the portal, tap 'Calendar' from the menu on the left and then + Schedule workout' in the top right. You will then have the option to choose a workout template that you have previously created or to create a new workout specifically for this schedule.
Tap the date to set the workout date. You can also decide to leave the workout as an all-day event, or select a specific time of day that the workout is to be performed. The difference is mainly how the workouts are shown in the app. There is also the option to toggle on the recurring workout to schedule this on the same day each week.

Click 'Confirm and next', select the athletes that you are scheduling the workout for, and you're done after tapping 'Create schedule'. When selecting the athletes, you can also use the tags to search for any groups you have created, and tapping 'select' all will add all the athletes listed.
For a full step-by-step guide on scheduling in the portal, check the linked article below.

Creating exercises can be performed in various ways. If you have an individual account, you can create exercises in the app or in the web portal. If you are an organisation, exercise creation is performed in the web portal only. The process is the same as below, apart from where to access the exercise creation tab. Portal instructions are further below.
*An important note either way would be that if the system tells you the exercise already exists, but you still want to create your exercise, make sure you add some form of variation - using the variation presets or by creating your own.
To create an exercise, go to Profile and tap on Exercises and then hit the plus button in the top right corner. You can then choose the movement type. For this example, we will choose the chest press.

Then you can select the exercise type (here we chose Bench Press), your equipment (here we chose kettlebell), and your position.

You have multiple tags that you can select, as well as choosing if it is a single limb or bilateral movement, with unilateral you can choose if you want to track both sides separately. You also have a section where you can add your own variation tag at the bottom. Then just type in the name of the exercise and give it a star rating if you wish. You can also add a note in the details box. Hit create, and your exercise will be saved to your exercise library.

Just like the process above, organisational users can create an exercise in the web portal. Go to portal.enode.ai and tap exercises in the left menu. When the screen opens, tap the add exercise button in the top right and follow the step-by-step instructions just like above.

With a subscription to Enode One+, you can receive personalised workout plans based on your training level, goal, available equiment, and available training days.
Creating an automatic workout plan is simple. Just need to enter a little bit of information, and a workout plan will be created for you.
Head to Profile > Goal > Schedule and tap Week Plan. Toggle on the AI Week Plan button.

Select how many days you want to train or leave this as automatic, and the system selects your training days for you. Enter your available training days and hit save.

A plan will be created for you, taking into account your choices regarding your equipment, limitations training level, and goal.
At any time, you can make adjustments to any of these sections, and a new workout plan will be created for you. You will receive a notification in the dashboard when it is ready.

Depending on your account, starting a session will be slightly different. If you are a single-user or if you are using the athlete login as part of an organisation, tap the training tab first. Select your workout template, create a workout, or select a scheduled workout.
If you are logged in as an owner or coach as part of an organisation, tap the + button to load a template or create a workout. Alternatively, scheduled workouts will show in the timeline.
Connect your sensor if you are using one, and select your first exercise. The sensor will be live and ready to track at this point. *Enode can also log completed sets manually. Check the article on manually logging reps and sets for more info.
If you tap where the exercise icon is shown, you can switch between exercises in the workout. Tapping the 1RM will allow you to enter your estimated 1RM for this exercise manually (this will be adjusted automatically, depending on your performance as well). At the bottom of the screen, you will also have two ways of changing the weight that you are using. You can use the + and - buttons, or tapping on the weight at the bottom will bring up an adjustment screen. Depending on how you have programmed the workout, you will have a target weight that may be adjusted during the workout based on performance.

Depending on your programming, the app may recommend changing the load for the next set. If you want to accept the changes, tap on 'Accept Load' at the bottom of the screen. Once you lift the sensor, it will track your repetitions, and the screen will enter live feedback view. There are a couple of options to choose from for live feedback. Metric mode will show your chosen metrics along with the percentage compared to the best rep in the set (highlighted in red). Technique mode will show your main metric plus the sigital bar-path, a top-down view, and the velocity curve chart. To change between feedback views, tap the 3 dots indicated in the image below.

After a set is complete, a box will pop up to check that the data is correct, and an esitmated reps-in-reserve score will be shown. You can adjust all this information before saving. You can mark the set as a warm-up set, or change the exercise if you performed it on the wrong one. If you are an organisation, you will also have the option to store the data on a different athlete profile at this point. Long-pressing on an individual rep allows you to mark it as invalid or gives you the option to delete it. You can perform the same edits by tapping any set that has already been completed.

When using an Enode sensor, there will be several icons in the top right of the screen. The first is to open the camera. Once open, and you perform a rep, video, and metrics will automatically be tracked.
The speaker symbol is to turn the metric readouts on or off. The ruler symbol allows you to change the minimal distance setting for the sensor, this is the distance that the sensor has to travel before it measures. This setting can be changed to make sure the sensor
does not measure when un-racking the bar, for example. Too high a number here and the sensor may not pick up reps, and too low may mean the sensor picks up unwanted movements as reps. The default setting usually works, but you may need to adjust this.
The final icon is the metric selection icon, allowing you to choose which metrics you wish to see during live feedback. We have a separate article on metric selection.

The Enode app provides various in-session training recommendations, depending on the type of account. Each guidance type can be turned on or off in the settings section of the app using toggle switches.
Enode One, Enode One+, Enode Pro+
Enode One+, Enode Pro+
Enode One+, Enode Pro+
Regardless of whether you use an Enode sensor, the Enode app will provide training recommendations related to your estimated 1 Rep Maximum (1RM). If you manually enter your performed reps, you can also add a reps-in-reserve (RiR) score. The Enode app considers these scores to estimate the daily 1RM.
If an Enode sensor or an Apple watch is used, the movement velocity builds a velocity profile over time for each individual exercise. This data helps us predict your daily estimated 1RM and enables the app to suggest loads to use for your chosen exercise during each workout.
Recommendations show on the training screen; tap on the notification if you would like to accept the recommended load. This notification often shows immediately to adjust the load based on your session programming. It can then show again depending on your performance, along with a corresponding 1RM change.

If you have a subscription to Enode One+ or Enode Pro+, you can toggle the recommendations in the app settings. For warm-up sets, Enode will program the initial sets and may add more depending on your performance. If you feel ready to move to a working set but Enode has added another warm-up, just adjust the weight to match the first programmed working set.

If the rest time guidance toggle is on, Enode will automatically adjust the timer. You can tap where the timer is shown to have the clock run up or down. The timer also changes colour once the rest time is over. The suggested rest time will be displayed just above the larger rest-time clock.

If you have an Enode sensor and a hip belt, you can perform jump testing.
As standard, there are 3 jumps in the exercise library: Counter movement Jump, Drop Jump, and Squat Jump. To perform jumps, the sensor should be placed in the pocket of the hip belt and secured with the sensor placed at the side of the hip.
Jump-specific metrics are available when using the sensor, including Reactive Strength Index (RSI), jump height and contact time. You can also create your own jump exercises using the exercise creation tool, and we encourage you to do so if you have different protocols when performing jumps. For example, if you test with hands placed on the hips and then the same jump using arm propulsion, these jumps will most likely vary dramatically, so it would be best to create a variation for these differences.

The system will expect certain behaviour when performing each of the jump exercises, especially when it comes to the squat jump. A squat jump requires the athlete have a short pause in the squat position before performing the jump.

When training with an Enode sensor, you have a selection of metrics to view live during your training. You can either set this up during your session, or you have the ability to have a pre-determined set of metrics dependent on the general exercise type. The images below come from the single-user view, but icons and settings are the same if you are logged in as an organisation.
If you would like to set this up beforehand to save you a little time during your session, tap the settings cog wheel. Scroll down to the focus metrics section, divided into 3 exercise categories. Tap on each category and add your pre-selection of metrics. You can always adjust this in a training session.

In the training screen, once you have connected the sensor to the app, you can also decide to change the metrics for live feedback.
Tap the symbol in the top right of the training screen, and you will then be shown the selection of metrics to choose from. You will be able to display 4 metrics at the same time if you wish. You can use the category section to narrow down your search or scroll through the options manually.

Once you have selected your metrics, you can rearrange the order of display by long pressing on the burger menu next to the chosen metric and moving it to the desired spot, or remove a metric by deselecting it or tapping the x next to the chosen metric in the list.

There are several variants of trap bars (sometimes also called hex bars). Depending on which variant is used for training, different settings must be made in the exercise definition. In the following, 2 variants are considered to illustrate the problem in more detail.
The fact that this is a deadlift-like exercise ensures we always recommend using the included strap here. This absorbs impacts on the sensor. If problems occur, watch for the sensor ready icon to appear in the Direct Feedback View.

If, as illustrated, the sensor should be placed on the middle axis of the bar. You can select a barbell as the equipment for such sensor placement.

If, as shown in the illustration, the sensor cannot be placed on the middle axis of the bar, Hex bar equipment should be selected. Otherwise, repetitions may not be reliably recorded. The sensor has certain expectations for an exercise declared as a barbell exercise, which the exercise may not be able to fulfill at any given repetition. More specifically, this relates to skewing of the sensor, which would be abnormal for a barbell movement. A similar issue can also occur with Landmine Press, for example.

Before you continue reading, please check if your sensor has the latest firmware installed and if you are using the provided barbell strap (if using an Enode Sensor). Similarly, ensure the Bar Sensor Kit is properly placed inside the barbell sleeve.
Like any other measuring device, the measurement technology within an IMU (the technology at work in our sensors) works reliably within a defined range. Due to environmental influences, impacts, or strong vibrations, measuring ranges can be exceeded. These out-of-range conditions cause the measured values to drift, leading to deviations in the output data or even missed repetitions.
In the following article, we show the most frequent causes and suggested solutions in this context.
If the above tips do not lead to any improvement, you can always contact us. Providing more information increases the likelihood of finding a solution. A video demonstrating the problem is usually the most helpful, but data exports or screenshots can also assist in finding a solution. If none of these options are available, please let us know in which exercises the issues typically occur.

Sensor calibration is important for our system to be as accurate as possible.
After setting up your workout, you will be able to connect your Enode sensor if you are using one. To connect the Enode sensor, place the sensor next to your device and tap connect. Once a sensor is connected, you will see a real-time 3D representation with 6 marked sides. Now you can place the sensor briefly on each side (it is best to do this on a flat surface), wait for the orange dots to disappear, and then repeat for each side of the sensor. Calibration is not always needed; the sensor decides if it's necessary or not.
When finishing a workout, you can also decide if you want to keep the sensor connected. This is especially helpful if you have back-to-back sessions, meaning you will not have to recalibrate the sensor when starting the next workout.
Manual calibration can also be performed without direct feedback from the app. To do this, place the sensor on each of the 6 sides for about 3 seconds. In the background, the sensor is also recalibrated, which can help with any measurement problems. Additionally, if you tap the battery icon, a box will pop up with the option to calibrate manually.
For the Bar Sensor Kit, pay attention to the markings on the sides to place the sensor according to the markings in the app.

To securely attach the sensor to a barbell, or other training equipment, we recommend always using the Enode Sensor package included Barbell Strap. To use, insert the sensor sideways into the provided sensor pocket. This works identically for the Extended Strap and the Hip belt. The Extended Strap can also be used with a barbell.
When placing the sensor on a barbell, a central placement should always be preferred to an external placement. The advantages of this are:
In general, the E on the sensor must be readable by the athlete. Consistent placement is essential for objective data.

Remove cases with metallic components, as these can sometimes lead to significant range restrictions.
*VMP relates specifically to Android devices.
Make sure the sensor is charged and can still charge, as indicated by the LED during charging.
Due to Bluetooth chips being mostly used in cheaper phones and tablets, some devices may not be able to connect to an Enode Sensor and a Bluetooth speaker/headphones simultaneously. Bluetooth devices that transmit sound tend to utilize up to 100% of the available bandwidth. Android, as an operating system, plays its part. A potential solution is to disconnect all other Bluetooth devices. Another option is to try connecting the speaker/headphones after initially connecting the Enode Sensor.

Our beta firmware is generally suitable for production use and is used to verify the changes we have made against a wider audience.
To participate in the beta firmware program, go to the app's settings.
Scroll down to find the toggle to participate in the beta program. If highlighted in color, it means that you want to participate in the program.
The next time you connect a sensor, you may see an update available for the sensor firmware. To perform the update, simply press the corresponding button.
After the update, the app will automatically search and reconnect to the sensor. The update to the beta firmware is now complete. If you no longer want to participate in the beta program, you can turn off the switch at any time and revert to the currently available stable firmware version via a further firmware update.
The app may also show additional features if you have the beta toggle switched on.

Since our sensors are always turned on, it is possible that if a sensor is not used for an extended period of time (6 months or more), the battery may become deeply discharged. This may be indicated by the LED no longer turning on during charging.
To make the affected sensors chargeable again, you can try connecting the sensor to a charging source for a few minutes and then disconnecting it for a minute. Repeat this process until the LED lights up again, or repeat a maximum of 10 times. The attempt to revive the sensor should therefore take at least 20 minutes before a definitive conclusion can be reached. Please do not attempt to perform this process on the USB port of a computer.
Once the LED lights up again, keep the sensor connected to the charger until it is fully charged (LED turns off). If this does not work, please contact support.
If you can connect the sensor, tap the battery percentage icon, and then tap the power button that pops up in the context box. This will shut down the sensor. It will turn back on again when connected to power.
